blackbird, in Spanish you’re a mirlo,
hear you at dawn when the mists lie low,
are coal black & not of rainbow plume,
of sunshine & eyes that greet the moon,
sinning hunter, you are no trophied prize,
pretty trilling, the first heard every sunrise,
human deems you fit for locking in the cage,
the raptor, in man you don´t evoke a rage,
hop & bob about your day, happy you are free,
You sing knowing you’re not wanted, so they let you be.
