REM kicks open the door
And all I have ever known
Goes spilling into the void

I pursue, their fading forms
In a slow withered march on weightlessness

‘Til I’m shoved away
Away, from gravity’s firm clasp
In a silent and grief-ridden scream

It all occurs in a rush
Then I’m hurtled awake
Into the blood red blaze of dawn

Returned to myself
To the solidness of home
To the same heartless trek
