Drunk, on the fringes of life
Having pillaged and burned
My nerves into silence

Relieved and numb
To the bedlam I nourish by day
The earth sprawls open
To receive this time-ridden husk

As the well-off travelers
Stride with full-hearts
Their eyes fixed onward
Through the veil of their gloom

I’m floundering
In the nausea
Of a quivering new dawn
